Donations to the Hawk Board
Why Funding is needed
Falconry is under great pressure from many directions. Lack of quarry species, caused by damage to our environment and biodiversity, poor land and wildlife management and global warming is having a dramatic effect on falconry. There are misguided attacks on raptor welfare and conservation issues. Unproven allegations against falconers trafficking raptors. Avian Influenza and other health concerns. Increased legal requirements and sometimes poor legislation. Positive lists and bans of quarry species. And sadly poor and illegal practice among raptor keepers damaging our reputation all are having their effects.
If you would like to support Hawk Board in their commitment to fighting all these problems. Please consider donating towards our running costs.
The Hawk Board runs on annual levies from member organisations and donations. Except for the co-ordinator all positions in the Hawk Board are voluntary posts. Expenses for travel to Hawk Board Meetings and when Members attend other meetings can be reimbursed, but are rarely claimed. The co-ordinator/treasurer is a salaried position on a part-time basis. Other Hawk Board expenses are occasional legal advice costs, HB elections and general running costs.
Falconry, hawking, breeding, rehabilitation, aviculture and other Bird of Prey Clubs and organisations that are affiliated members of the Hawk Board pay an annual levy to the Board, calculated on the number of subscribing UK members whose membership status allows them to keep hawks, at a per capita rate determined by the Members of the Board.
Any other Bird of Prey professionals, be they breeders, educators, rehabilitators, aviculturists, display givers, bird controllers, falconry furniture makers or others, can on payment of a subscription and submission of a signed declaration (as supplied by the Board) become individual members of the Raptor Professionals sub-group of the Board.
Individuals who are not affiliated Club members can on payment of a subscription and submission of a signed declaration (as supplied by the Board) become individual members of the Membership sub-group of the Board.
Any of these organisations and individuals or supporters of the Hawk Board’s work are welcome to donate to the running of the organisation.
