Guidelines for Avian Influenza

We are reaching the time of year when in recent years we start getting reports of Avian Influenza around the UK. There have been reports of cases in wild birds, although there don’t appear to be any new reports on the Government website.

We suggest that all falconers should be vigilant and mindful of the potential risks of flying wild quarry and feeding wild birds.

Biosecurity measures such as disinfectant foot baths, should be used in order to prevent carrying infection on shoes and boots, and thought should be given to where birds are housed.

We aim to update Hawk Board Facebook pages and website as and when AI information is received.
